Where we came from…
Snowdonia-Active was established in 2001 as a direct reaction to the foot and mouth crisis when, due to land access restrictions in North Wales, many outdoor activity businesses were prevented from operating.
That crisis served to highlight the true financial value of the sector to the wider local economy. The work carried out by Snowdonia-Active in the years immediately following, crucially included the accurate quantification of that financial value, in addition to the promotion of links and cooperation between key organisations in the sector.
Call in for a coffee and a chat if you are passing.
Our staff, Catherine, Emma and Jeanette are based in the business/meeting venue and cafe, Caban, Brynrefail, near Llanberis.
Snowdonia-Active, present and future…
Snowdonia-Active is a consultancy (Not for Profit) delivering projects linked to outdoor recreation, tourism and conservation in Wales and sometimes beyond. We pride ourselves on our creative thinking, creative writing, graphic design and imagery. This creative streak comes through in the way that we go about our work and how we get things done. We are all about effective communication; simplicity and clarity are key.
Snowdonia-Active is constituted as a non-distributive Limited Company. We are not recipients of any core funding, any profits from our consultancy work we feedback into projects which are close to our hearts.
As S-A has matured as an organisation, so its role has altered and developed leading, in more recent years, to involvement in projects shaping the development of future strategy, infrastructure programmes and education within the outdoor recreation and tourism sector. We are passionate about outdoor recreation and the benefits to peoples’ physical and mental well-being but feel strongly that this activity should take place with minimal impact on the landscape and ecology in which it is based. Our portfolio of projects reflects this balance.
